A dataset of vector and coverage of river and lake surface water in Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou (China), and the ASEAN member states Data

Using river vector data of the Eurasian continent (2010) and the global land classification data (2020) from the European Space Agency (ESA) for surface water products, river and lake vector surface area data were merged to form river, lake, and reservoir surface area vector data. Then, river discontinuity issues were addressed using dilation and erosion buffer methods, and based on the first, second, and third-level river classifications in the HydroBASINS data, vector datasets of river surface areas for Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou provinces in China and the ten ASEAN countries were generated. By further processing the ESA global land classification data, a vector dataset of lake and reservoir surface areas for the same regions was obtained. The coverage of rivers and lakes was calculated, generating a 1 km grid dataset of river and lake coverage.
