This time period in Lewiston, ME begins with the effects of the growing mills and resulting boom in the tenement French Canadian population to serve the mills. These new comers gain prominence in the town during this period, as can be traced by Census records and the church. As they gain dominance they spread out into the town, becoming its primary citizens. By the end of this period vehicular roads are dominating and the town center is being de-densified as rail becomes less dominant and history moves toward the closing of the mills.
