Welcome to the official documentation for ImmunoSPdb, a comprehensive, manually curated database of experimentally verified immunosuppressive peptides. Immunosuppressive peptides are vital for reducing the efficacy of the immune system and have a wide range of therapeutic implementations, particularly in treating autoimmune disorders, asthma, and managing organ transplantation. While traditional immunosuppressive drugs often have systemic side effects, peptide-based therapies offer a more targeted approach. ImmunoSPdb compiles scattered experimental data into a structured format to accelerate the discovery and design of novel immunosuppressive leads. Database Statistics Peptide Entries: Contains approximately 500 experimentally verified immunosuppressive peptides. Data Sources: Information is meticulously compiled from 79 research articles. Species Diversity: Includes peptides tested against various immune cells (e.g., T-cells, B-cells, macrophages) from different organisms. Key Features Search and Browse Modules Simple Search: Quick keyword searching based on peptide name, sequence, or source. Advanced Search: Complex querying using logical operators (AND/OR) across multiple fields like assay type, target cell, and inhibition level. Browsing: Explore the database by specific categories such as the nature of the peptide (natural vs. synthetic) or the immune assay performed. Comprehensive Annotations Functional Data: Details on the immunosuppressive activity, including the percentage of inhibition or IC50 values where available. Assay Information: Information on the experimental conditions, cell lines used, and biological markers measured (e.g., cytokine levels). Peptide Properties: Physical and chemical properties of the peptides are provided to assist in structure-activity relationship (SAR) studies. Technical Overview ImmunoSPdb is built on a robust architecture to facilitate easy data retrieval and analysis. Backend: Managed using a MySQL database for organized data storage. Web Interface: Developed using PHP, HTML, and JavaScript to provide a user-friendly and responsive experience. Integrated Tools: Includes modules for sequence alignment and links to external resources like PubMed and UniProt.
