Thermobifida fusca, a moderately thermophilic soil actinobacterium, is known for its excellence in producing a battery of cellulolytic enzymes. However, no bacteriophage has been reported in detail to infect T. fusca. Thus, we set out to isolate T. fusca-infecting phages with the aims of understanding the bacterial-phage interactions and looking for useful genetic elements for the development of molecular tools specific for T. fusca.
