Cellular characterization of the Subfornical organ

Subfornical organ (SFO) is the neural center of body-fluids sensing in the brain, which is indispensable for generating thirst/salt-appetite feelings to maintain the homeostatic control of body fluids. Several sensors and receptors for circulating signaling molecules are expressed in the SFO. However, the cellular composition and variation are still unrevealed. The purpose of this study is to characterize the cells in the SFO especially focusing on the neurons involved in the control of antidiuretic hormone.
