This data reports the effects of long-term meditation practice on the multiple attributes including peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) telomere length, expression levels of telomerase regulatory genes (<em>hTR</em> and <em>hTERT</em>) and methylation level at the promoter region of <em>hTERT</em> gene, which are biomarkers of cellular aging. In this case-control study, long-term meditators were found to have significantly longer telomere lengths, up-regulated expression of <em>hTR</em> and <em>hTERT</em> genes, and significantly lower methylation level of the promoter region of <em>hTERT </em>gene compared to age, and sex matched non-meditators.
