Data and Code for: Increasing Density from Population Recovery Does Not Explain Elevated Partial Brood Loss in a Threatened Cooperative Breeder

This repository contains the cleaned, non-sensitive datasets and reproducible R code associated with the manuscript: Pharr, L.D. Moorman, C.E., Hostetter, N.J., Sorenson, C.E., Walters, J.R., & Cooper, C.B. (2025). Increasing Density from population Recovery Does Not Explain Elevated Partial Brood Loss in a Threatened Cooperative Breeder. Ornithological Applications. The datasets include early and late partial brood loss (EPBL, LPBL) data from three study sites (Sandhills, Camp Lejeune, Eglin Air Force Base). All spatially explicit or sensitive information—including coordinates, nest locations, cavity tree IDs, and geometry—has been removed in accordance with USFWS regulations for the federally threatened Red-cockaded Woodpecker (Dryobates borealis). Files include:- Clean datasets for each site (EPBL and LPBL)- R scripts used for data processing, GLMM modeling, model selection, and figure generation- A data dictionary describing all variables- A README describing dataset structure and reproducibility instructions These files allow full reproduction of statistical analyses and figures. Raw spatial data are available upon request when permitted under federal guidelines.
