This study investigated the effect of complex plant extracts on pre-weaned calves and addition during pre-weaning on weaned calves. Twenty, 30-day-old Flavich calves in good health and of similar weight were randomized into two groups of 10 calves per group. The control group was fed conventional cow's milk, and the pre-weaning test group was supplemented with of the complex plant extract in cow's milk. Weaning was followed by regular feeding for 7 days, for a total of 37 days throughout the trial period. At the end of the feeding, serum biochemical indices, immune function, antioxidant properties, and rumen fermentation parameters and microflora were examined in pre-weaned and weaning calves. The test results show that the addition of complex plant extracts affected the serum biochemical indices, immune properties, antioxidant properties, rumen fermentation parameters, and microflora of pre-weaned and weaning calves. Therefore, we surmised that the addition of complex plant extracts during pre-weaning may reduce the effects of weaning on calves by improving their serum biochemical indices, immune performance, and rumen microflora, thereby alleviating weaning stress.
