PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a collision noise generated when a tip of a fastening needle which penetrates through a sheet bundle collides with a clinch part. SOLUTION: In a sheet processing device， a fastening needle 203 is moved at a first speed from a prescribed position toward a sheet bundle PB containing a plurality of sheets， and the moving speed of the fastening needle 203 is， before the fastening needle 203 is brought into contact with the sheet bundle PB， lowered to a second speed v2 slower than the first speed v1， and the fastening needle 203 penetrates through the sheet bundle PB while moving the fastening needle 203 at the second speed v2， and， before a tip of the fastening needle 203 protruded from the sheet bundle PB butts against a clinch part 201， the moving speed of the fastening needle 203 is lowered to a third speed v3 slower than the second speed v2， and the fastening needle 203 is made to butt against the clinch part 201 while moving the fastening needle 203 at the third speed v3， to bend the tip of the fastening needle 203.
