Pteridium-Soil propierts

This dataset contains soil physical and chemical properties measured in areas invaded by bracken fern (Pteridium) and in adjacent non-invaded areas across two tropical ecoregions in Brazil: the Atlantic Forest and the Chapada Diamantina. The dataset includes variables related to soil fertility, nutrient availability, and structure, such as pH, exchangeable cations (e.g., Ca, Mg, K, Al), cation exchange capacity (CEC), base saturation, organic matter, macronutrients (N and P), electrical conductivity, and soil bulk density. Samples were collected from paired invaded and non-invaded plots to evaluate the effects of bracken fern dominance on soil conditions. The dataset supports analyses of context-dependent soil changes, nutrient dynamics, and potential implications for plant establishment and ecosystem functioning in tropical bracken-invaded systems. Units of measurement and variable descriptions are provided within the dataset file.
