This study showed that experimental noise exposure reduced the probability of approach more strongly for combined calls than for single calls in both Japanese tits and heterospecific tits, suggesting greater disruption of responses to complex call structures. Noise also increased latency to approach, with marginally stronger effects on heterospecific than conspecific receivers to combined calls. By contrast, noise exposure increased minimum approach distances to Japanese tits’ calls consistently across call types and receiver species. We have uploaded the dataset and R code supporting the above findings. "OriginalDataset" is the raw dataset that contains all response variables and explanatory variables. In the "species" column, "pm" indicates conspecifics, and "the others" indicate heterospecifics. In the "calltype" column, "p", "j", and "pj" indicate alert, recruitment, and alert-recruitment calls, respectively. The "Jpcall" column indicates the file ID of the Japanese tit calls. All R code for the GLMM analyses are included in the "FormalRscriptForSubmission.R" file.
