资源简介:
Site 48SW13156 is a buried, open camp site, containing numerous features and stains
dating to between 9430±40 and 8150±40 RCYBP. All of the features were noted in the lower
portion of stratum A or the upper portion of stratum E. Two modern samples, collected from
different modern vegetation communities, were analyzed as controls for the site. Eleven
stratigraphic samples collected at ten centimeter intervals from a buried A horizon that overlaid
the cultural A stratum 90wn through stratum K were analyzed to assess changes in the
vegetative community in the area and to evaluate the potential for plant use by occupants of the
site. A pollen wash of two sandstone fragments and the accompanying sediments was
analyzed from Feature 6, dated to 8150±40 RCYBP, to determine human plant use in the
feature. The sandstone fragments were originally hoped to be groundstone, but upon
inspection after cleaning the matrix from one piece, it was determined to be an unmodified rock.
