Treatment of [M(tpt)2]X2 (M = Fe, Co, Ni; X = BF4, ClO4) with the appropriate silver(I) salt affords thixotropic gels. However, two other related tris-pyrazolyl-azine ligands do not act as gelators under these conditions.
