Tick-Borne Encephalitis Virus (TBEV) detection among ticks collected from cattle in Kyrgyzstan, 2023

Korea Diseases Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) has a cooperation with Kyrgyz National Agrarian University (KANU) for national tick surveillance since 2020.In the Kyrgyzstan, there is only one study to detect TBEV in tick in 2009, TBEV-Sib strain related to Novosibirsk was confirmed in ticks and rodents from Ala-Archa National Nature Park. However, since then, no vector surveillance related to TBEV have been performed in Kyrgyzstan.This study aims to investigate the prevalence of TBEV in ticks in the Kyrgyzstan and to identify the possibility of spread and distribution of tick-borne pathogens.
