Biology of Human Influenza in Respiratory Droplets. Influenza A virus

Our long-term goal is to understand influenza transmission and the impact of vaccination on transmission in support of the NIAID strategic plan for a universal influenza vaccine. The objective of this pilot project is to leverage existing samples and data on influenza infections collected during the 2012-2013 season to provide a deeper understanding of within person evolution of the virus and the impact of mucosal antibody and co-infection on viral evolution and shedding into aerosols.
