This data set contains biological information on sperm and humpback whales processed at Cheynes Beach Whaling Station between 1952 and 1963. Biological variables include date of catch; location of catch; species caught; sex of catch; reproductive status; body length; and total body lipid.
The data was sourced from the State Records Office of Western Australia www.sro.wa.gov.au The original records are in raw hand-written data sheets which were photographed and digitised into an excel spreadsheet.
