Genomic Surveillance of Aeromonas Species Isolated from Amazonian Aquaculture and Ornamental Fish in Peru

This project aims to investigate the genomic diversity of Aeromonas species isolated from diseased fish originating from aquaculture systems and ornamental trade in the Peruvian Amazon. Bacterial isolates were collected from organs such as spleen, liver and kidney of symptomatic freshwater fish, including both food species and ornamental species. Whole genome sequencing (WGS) was performed using Illumina paired-end sequencing. The project supports genomic epidemiology, antimicrobial resistance monitoring, and the study of virulence factors in Aeromonas species affecting fish health in the Amazon basin.
