This study aims to address the gap in genetic characterization of marine bacteria, particularly within the genus Thiohalocapsa, in environments contaminated with high concentrations of sulfide, such as municipal wastewater treatment effluents. Particularly, we seek to explore the genomic features of Thiohalocapsa marina, a phototrophic purple bacterium known for its role in sulfur oxidation and bioremediation in aquaculture systems. This study enhances the understanding of the ecological adaptation and bioremediation capabilities of Thc. marina in treated municipal wastewater effluents.
