Fungal communities in the casts of the earthworm Eisenia fetida fed with brewers spent grains and cow manure

The aim of this work was to investigate the changes of fungal (ITS) communities in the casts of the earthworm Eisenia fetida fed with three different rearing substrates: 100% brewers' spent grains (BSG), 100% cow manure (CM) and a mix made of 50% BSG + 50%CM. Paired-end Illumina MiSeq sequencing of fungal internal transcribed spacer region (ITS), was used to define microbial communities of earthworms' casts after 4 months acclimatization period.
