This digital soil type map was developed from the 1:1,000,000 scale soil map of Guizhou Province compiled using data from the Second National Soil Survey, via digitization and projection transformation, and updated with the latest land use datasets. Adopting the genetic soil classification standard, this map reflects the major soil types in China and their distribution patterns, and roughly depicts the distribution of cultivated soils as well as the utilization directions of all soil types across the country. It can serve as a foundation for compiling national soil resource maps and soil fertility maps, provide scientific support for national-level soil utilization and improvement zoning, agricultural zoning, physical regionalization and other relevant works, and can be referenced by agricultural and forestry departments, scientific research institutions and educational units.
