Microbial community assemblages in Bermudian mangrove sediments and continental margin sediments of the Northeast Subarctic Pacific

This study was directed toward understanding the role of microbial community structure in regulating N2O flux from marine sediments. Microbial community structure, assessed through high-throughput sequencing of bacterial and archaeal 16S rRNA genes, was compared between N2O sink sediments from a Bermudian mangrove stand and N2O source sediments from the Northeast Subarctic Pacific continental margin. These data were used as additional context for interpreting the results of sediment N2O flux measurements and qPCR assays quantifying the abundance and expression levels of microbial nitrous oxide reductase genes.
