Rice Mapping Based on SAR Imagery – Arkansas River Basin, Sacramento Region

As an important foundation for global food security, precise identification of the spatial distribution of rice cultivation is of crucial importance for agricultural production management, water resource allocation, and environmental assessment. This study is based on synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images and explores the feasibility and model generalization ability of rice planting mapping in the Arkansas River Basin and Sacramento area of California, USA. The study adopts an innovative SimTA model and utilizes SAR data for high-precision identification and mapping of rice. The specific experimental design is as follows: Firstly, the time-series SAR image data of the Arkansas River Basin in 2017 and 2018 will be used for model training and accuracy verification to construct a robust rice recognition model. Subsequently, the trained model was applied to data from the same region (Arkansas River Basin) in 2019 to investigate its generalization performance in the time dimension and evaluate its stability and adaptability across different years.
