In this study, we further elucidated the intracellular mechanism by which the plant defensin protein, NaD1, induces ROS production in Candida albicans. We studied the global transcriptional response to a sub-lethal dose of the defensin NaD1 using RNA-Seq, and found coordinated responses linked to cellular organelles, including the peroxisome and the mitochondrion.
