Biomass of batch reactors subjected to different concentrations of artificial sweeteners. Metagenome

Cyclamate, sucralose and aspartame are low-calorie sweeteners widely used in foods, beverages, medicines and personal hygiene products. Because of this, these compounds have been identified in several environmental matrices, mainly in sewage from sewage treatment plants, with several harmful effects on the environment and humans. In this study, different concentrations of artificial sweeteners were used in batch reactors inoculated with 2 g/L of total volatile solids and sewage, under methanogenic conditions.
