Replication Data for: Economic Origins of the Territorial State

This is the replication file for “The Economic Origins of the Territorial State” by Scott Abramson There are two folders. The first, “Replication_Main_Text” contains data and replication code for the results from the main text. The second folder, “Replication_Appendix” contains code and data to replicate all results from the Supplemental Online Appendix. Each folder contains separate folders for each table/figure. You can either run the file “Make_Main_Text_Figures.R” which will simply sources the code in each sub-folder, producing the results. Or you can go, folder by folder and manually run the code. All output will appear in the folder associated with each figure/table. That is, Figure 5 will appear in the folder Replication_Main_Text/Figure_5. The same is true for the Appendix, you can either run “Make_Figures_Appendix.R” which, again sources the code in each sub-folder.
