Kanise Khumi Wordlist Data

IPA transcriptions and audio recordings of a wordlist in Kanise Khumi. The name Kanise Khumi is a name that the people who speak the language adopted in 2016. Previously, the language and the people who spoke it were referred to by names of some of the larger clans, such as Nideun, Tahaensae (Taheunso), or Uiphaw. It shares an ISO code with other self identified language communities in Paletwa Township, Chin State, Myanmar. While linguistically similar, these communities have not thought of themselves as the same group in living memory. The larger umbrella term for these groups is Eastern Khumi (ISO cek). The wordlist is a version of the EFEO-CNRS-SOAS Word List for Linguistic Fieldwork in Southeast Asia.
