Closing the Gap: Gender and Innovation

This study hypothesized gender differences in innovation performance in Tanzania. Data from the 2015 Tanzania Firm-Level Skills Survey (TFLSS) collected by the World Bank Group was used for analysis. A non-linear Blinder-Oaxaca decomposition was used to decompose the mean differences in innovation. The results of showed that female-owned enterprises had an 18.1 percentage point lower probability of innovation when compared to their male counterparts.
