Seasonal Carbon Export and Fine-Scale Ocean Dynamics in the Northwest Pacific

This dataset supports the study of seasonal carbon export modulated by fine-scale ocean dynamics in the Subtropical Countercurrent (STCC) region, as presented in the study entitled ‘Fine-scale ocean dynamics modulate seasonal carbon export in the Northwest Pacific’. It includes four MATLAB files for Figures 3–8: (1) Fig3_Data.mat, (2) Fig4_Data.mat, (3) Fig5_and_6_Data.mat, and (4) Fig7_and_8_Data.mat, derived from a physical-biogeochemical model at 1/72°, 1/24°, and 1/8° resolutions. The files contain: power spectral density data for spatial variability of Eddy Kinetic Energy, Nitrate, and Particulate Organic Carbon (POC) (File 1); POC flux time series at 150 m and monthly relative differences (File 2); vertical profiles of Mixed Layer Depth, frontogenesis function, eddy buoyancy flux, and vertical velocity (File 3); and vertical profiles of Mixed Layer Depth, vertical velocity, nitrate flux, phytoplankton growth rate, and POC concentration (File 4).
