资源简介:
This study investigated the impact of positive thinking exercises on chronic pain management over a 16-week period. A total of 226 patients with chronic pain were divided into two groups: a control group and an intervention group. The control group, consisting of 113 patients, continued their usual care routines without any specific intervention. In contrast, the intervention group, also consisting of 113 patients, was instructed to recite and focus on positive thinking statements for 20 minutes daily. The findings revealed distinct differences between the two groups. In the control group, chronic pain levels remained the same or worsened over the 16-week period, with no significant change in medication use. These patients maintained regular follow-up visits as per usual care protocols and did not report notable improvements in their relationships with family or overall sense of fulfillment.Conversely, the intervention group showed significant positive outcomes. Of the 113 patients, 105 reported a decreased perception of pain, suggesting a substantial impact of the positive thinking exercises. These patients also experienced a noticeable reduction in the need for pain medication and required fewer follow-up visits, indicating better management of their condition. Additionally, they reported improved relationships with family members and a greater sense of fulfillment and well-being.The study’s confidence factor is high for both groups. For the control group, there is high confidence that pain levels remained the same or worsened, aligning with the natural progression of chronic pain without additional interventions. For the intervention group, there is high confidence in the positive outcomes observed, given the significant number of patients reporting improvements. The consistency of these results across multiple measures—pain perception, medication use, follow-up visits, and quality of life—further supports the reliability of these findings. The implications of this study are noteworthy. For patients, incorporating positive thinking exercises into daily routines could be a valuable complementary approach to managing chronic pain, potentially reducing the need for medication and improving overall quality of life. For healthcare providers, the study highlights the importance of holistic approaches in chronic pain management, suggesting that encouraging patients to engage in positive thinking exercises could enhance treatment outcomes and patient satisfaction. For researchers, the study suggests further exploration of the long-term benefits of positive thinking exercises and the identification of the most effective methods for integrating these practices into standard care protocols.
