Amplicon Sequencing of 16S rRNA Genes in Soil Samples Fertilized and Unfertilized with Poultry Litter from Agricultural Area Raw sequence reads

This study aimed to characterize the bacterial communities in soils fertilized and unfertilized with poultry litter in agricultural areas with intensive poultry litter application. Sampling was conducted in triplicate across two agricultural and poultry production areas. The sampled materials included: (i) cultivable soil fertilized with poultry litter and (ii) agricultural soil unfertilized with poultry litter. Given the widespread use of poultry litter as an organic fertilizer and its associated risks of spreading antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in agricultural environments, investigating the effects of poultry litter application on soils is crucial. Additionally, it is important to characterize the microbial community of different agricultural substrates in locations where poultry litter is applied to understand the modifications in the structure and composition of the microbial community following fertilization with poultry litter.
