As part of an ESIA for bauxite mining for BHP Billiton, baseline studies were carried out for several key taxonomic groups. The study on amphibians and reptiles was carried out by a team consisting of Paul Ouboter, Rawien Jairam, Gwendolyn Landburg and Gaitrie Satnarain, whom visited the area in November 2005, January and May 2006 and June 2008.
