Mapping mutual transcriptional responses of human fungal pathogen Candida albicans and human macrophages

Candida albicans is the leading opportunistic human fungal pathogen. Phagocytes play a crucial role in controlling the severity of C. albicans infection. To gain insights on host-pathogen interaction between C. albicans and human macrophages, we utilized a macrophage model of THP-1 cell line and examined the mutual transcriptional responses of C. albicans and THP-1 macrophages by dual RNA-sequencing after two hours coincubation post phagocytosis.
