(1) to compare the MBR microbial diversity and functional potentials with those of influent sewage and activated sludge from the CAS system; (2) to evaluate the variation of inter- and intra-population patterns in the metagenome; (3) to investigate whether the microbial community in MBRs presents higher nitrification or denitrification potentials; and (4) to find out the genes that contribute to membrane biofouling.
