3,992 Images of Blasted Forged Steel Coupling Links ("G-Links") Including Ground Truth Masks

This dataset contains 3,992 medium-resolution images of blasted forged steel coupling links ("G-Links"). The images were captured using an area-scan camera as the coupling link was translated and rotated by an industrial robot. The provided data comes in 3 variants: Original: 3,424 images good images, ca. 130 images per item from different angles. 464 good test images and 165 bad test images, including 165 binary ground truth masks, annotated on pixel-level. Masked: Using SAM, all images and ground truth masks had their background removed and were cropped. Center-embedded and blanked-out version of the original images. This dataset was used in the ECMLPKDD'25 paper "From Lab to Factory: Pitfalls and Guidelines for Self-/Unsupervised Defect Detection on Low-Quality Industrial Images".
