In the winter half-years of 2020/2021 and 2021/2022, winter cover crops were grown in 10 trial variants at the Hohenschulen trial site. The soils at the trial site are mainly stagnic Luvisols derived from glacial till. The variants were arranged in a randomized block design with four replications. Cover crop and maize biomass development, as well as soil mineral N content were monitored at several sampling times during the corresponding growing seasons. Soil water content was measured during the maize vegetation period.
