Citrus peel is rich in various bioactive substances, among which cell wall substances are one of its main components, which have a significant impact on the quality, storage, and processing characteristics of the fruit. In recent years, with the rapid development of molecular biology technology, research on citrus peel cell wall substances has gradually deepened to the genetic level. Using chemical analysis to determine the content of major cell wall components such as cellulose, hemicellulose, and pectin in citrus peel. Extract total RNA from citrus peel at different developmental stages and perform transcriptome sequencing (RNA seq). Using bioinformatics methods to analyze differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and screen key genes related to cell wall material synthesis and metabolism. Select candidate genes related to cell wall substances based on transcriptome analysis results. Using gene silencing (RNAi) or overexpression and other technologies, regulate the expression of candidate genes in citrus.
