Comparative transcriptomic analysis among apterygote and pterygote insects. Dicondylia

Many biological traits are expressed in the integrated manner, but mechanism underlying such integrative evolution is poorly understood. Powered flight, one of the most innovative traits in insect, is achieved by the integrative evolution of body wall structures, flight muscle and nervous system. To understand the key developmental event that is important for evolution of insect flight apparatus, we compared embryonic transcriptomes among apterygote and pterygote insects.
