These dates suggested that lower pH and bulk density improved fungi/bacteria ratio and raised resource carbon limitation, thus promoting POC and SOC storage. Overall, straw return depth of 0–35 cm has higher effectives for enhancing soil microbial activity and utilizable SOC fractions and storage.
