This dataset documents population time-series data for 65 countries along the Belt and Road spanning 1960 to 2017, covering three core indicators: total population, population density, and population growth rate.
Total population is defined as the aggregate number of people living within a specific time period and geographic scope. Population density refers to the population count per unit of land area. Population growth rate is the ratio of population increase resulting from natural demographic changes and migratory demographic changes over a given period.
These three indicators are the most fundamental metrics in population statistics, holding critical significance for understanding a country’s national conditions and comprehensive national strength, formulating population plans, economic and social development plans, and conducting scientific population research.
