Angelman Syndrome mouse model microbiome

Angelman Syndrome (AS) is a neurogenetic disorder that arises from the genetic loss of the maternal UBE3A gene in the brain neurons, causing severe mental and physical impairments. Angelman Syndrome patients frequently have gastrointestinal problems, with constipation and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) being the most common. Angelman Syndrome preclinical animal models give us the opportunity to test whether the loss of the gene Ube3a also alters the host intestinal niche and disturbs the microbiome. Here we collected the fecal samples from AS and WT littermates from the Angelman Syndrome mouse model and sent the DNA samples for 16s ribosomal RNA sequencing.
