RTS,S Phase 2b Malaria Vaccine Trial Genotyping. Plasmodium falciparum

Genotyping was performed on samples collected during the Phase 2b RTS,S/AS01E malaria vaccine (GSK) to assess vaccine efficacy against infection. Over 36,000 blood spot samples were collected from two sites (Agogo, Ghana and Siaya, Kenya) and underwent deep PCR-based Illumina MiSeq data generation at two loci: the coding region of the CSP C-terminus and a comparably polymorphic locus that codes for a portion of the antigen SERA2.
