Data for peri-operative activity monitoring

These datasets were collected to explore the use of physical activity data in the peri-operative setting. Physical activity data are based on the running and walking distance from smartphone accelerometers were collected from patients before and after surgery. The smartphone data is displayed as day related to surgery (where negative are pre-op, positive post op), and a distance (Km) per hour, I.e. 24 cells of information per day per patient. The first sheet is a reference to all subsequent data sheets re. participant ID, operation type, American society of anaesthesia grade (ASA), and age in years. There is a close correlation to accelerometry data from a wrist worn activity monitor, therefore the outcome measure can be considered a gross measure of physical activity. The data were shown to provide a valid measure of post operative recovery which could have value in clinical and research settings.
