Three different numerical methods were used to solve the sensitivity equations; OSSC-BDF: 3rd order fixed step-size backward difference method (implicit); OSSC-FD: forward-finite difference (explicit); and OSSC-ODE15s: 5th order variable step-size backward difference routine (implicit) from the Matlab (The Mathworks, Natick MA) ODE suite. Each member of the nominal parameter set was randomly perturbed by up to ��1-order of magnitude to form a family of random parameter sets (N = 500). OSSC were calculated for every member of the family of random parameter sets. The mean (��) ��1-standard deviation (��) are reported.
