This contribution was provided by Carlos Ibarra-Rivadeneira who moved to Wales with his family from Venezuela.
“Another year, same Covid lockdown. Riding my bike is the best option for being active in my situation. But cycling during Wales’ winters comes with many different lessons, especially when you see the same location day after day as the weather changes. Life is ironic, and one day could be rainy yet warm, the next could be sunny but chilling. What can stop you from going on? Lack of determination or drive even more so than the natural elements.”
This material is part of the Covid Chronicles from the Margins project, funded by The Open University and the International Institute of Social Studies in the Hague. The project aims to highlight the impact of the pandemic on refugees, asylum seekers and undocumented migrants.
