P. infestans and P. betacei infection in solanaceous plants of southern Colombia

Late blight is a disease that reduces the yield and quality of Andean Solanaceae and increases management costs. However, there are few quantitative comparisons between host–pathogen combinations. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the establishment and progression of the disease caused by P. infestans and P. betacei isolates in four Solanaceae species cultivated in the southern region of Colombia, by quantifying the incubation period and infection growth rate in detached-leaf assays.
