RCAO Historical Charging Rate

Historical charging rate from 2009-2023, based on data available contemporaneous to the time of collection. Law enforcement refers cases to the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office (RCAO) based on the charge they believe is supported by the evidence they have gathered. These cases are reviewed by RCAO to determine if the charges are supported and appropriate. A charging rate is the percentage of files referred by law enforcement in a specific year that were charged with a crime through the justice system by RCAO.
