Transcriptome sequencing of male and female Betta splendens

The Siamese fighting fish Betta splendens, a species widely inhabits southeast Asia, is one of the most important labyrinth fishes with a notable commercial value in the aquarium fish industry worldwide, due to its attractiveness such as variety of color and scale pattern, body shape, fin designs, hardiness and ease cultivation in captivity. In order to enhance the genomic resources , the Illumina paired-end sequencing of Betta splendens transcriptom was conducted to generate a comprehensive transcript dataset. The high-throughput transcriptomic resource would greatly enrich the genetic database and provide effective support for the advanced research on genetics and genomics.
