This study investigates the effect of helicobacter hepaticus (hhep) colonization on the immune response to a mouse model of cancer. Mice were injected with a carcinogen and exposed to colonic inflammation over a period of 12 weeks. Seven weeks after the initial carcinogen injection, half of the mice were colonized with hhep. Fecal samples were collected over time to monitor changes to the microbiome. DNA was isolated from the samples and sequenced for the 16S V4 region. Samples were analyzed using QIIME2 software to determine alpha and beta diversity as well as taxonomic identification.
