Protected areas and local development – systematic literature review dataset (1960–2025)

The dataset contains bibliographic records from a systematic literature review on the relationships between protected areas and local or regional development.The review covered publications published between 1960 and the first quarter of 2025. Publications indexed in Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus were identified using the following search query: ("national park" OR "protected area" OR "biosphere reserve" OR "nature reserve") AND ("local development" OR "economic impact" OR "local economy" OR "regional development" OR "park-people relation") and supplemented with Google Scholar.
