Preliminary Site Selection for Floating Offshore Wind Farm Using Multi-method GIS-MCDM: A Malaysia EEZ Case Study

This dataset is organized to document and reproduce the GIS-MCDM workflow reported in the manuscript, from raw and intermediate spatial layers to final suitability outputs. The folders should be read sequentially: 00–02 contain wind and wave inputs and derived rasters, 03 contains bathymetry and slope layers, 04–06 contain infrastructure-distance layers, 07 contains shipping-density processing and exclusion layers, 08 records the marine protected area masking step used to construct the environmental restriction factor, and 09 records the coastal visual/noise setback mask used to implement the 12 km shoreline exclusion. Folder 10 contains the harmonized final criterion rasters prepared on a common ~1 km grid in EPSG:4326, 11 contains the extracted cell-wise decision matrix, 12–13 contain the CRITIC- and AHP-based ranking results and scripts, and 14 contains the final maps, consensus surface, and energy-yield outputs. To use the dataset, users may first inspect the .qgz project files in QGIS to visualize each layer, then use the Python scripts provided in the respective folders to regenerate derived rasters, verify raster alignment, convert the standardized layers into the decision matrix, and re-run the six GIS-MCDM pipelines (AHP/CRITIC × TOPSIS/VIKOR/PROMETHEE II). The final robust candidate zones are obtained from the geometric mean of the six rank rasters, consistent with the procedure described in the article. Supporting shapefiles, style files, and plotting assets are included to assist visualization, traceability, and figure recreation.
